The Commonwealth Fund International Health Policy Survey of Primary Care Physicians results were initially released in December 2015. Canada Health Infoway issued a media release and backgrounder with new analysis on data including provincial electronic medical record (EMR) adoption rates, benefits being realized and advanced use patterns.
Canadian primary care physician EMR adoption has tripled in the past nine year (23 per cent to 73 per cent) and most provinces saw adoption growth since the last survey in 2012. Further, the Canadian doctors are more likely to use some functionalities and less likely to use others, when compared to the 10 country average.
Additional Canada-specific results may be viewed in the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) How Canada Compares: Results from the Commonwealth Fund 2015 International Health Policy Survey of Primary Care Physicians.
