Kids Help Phone is a charity reaching youth across Canada, many of whom remain hidden from the mental health system. Its services have proven to be a remarkably effective, using technology in positive ways to benefit young people. The need to remain accessible and offer effective services to youth in need has never been more relevant. With the fast-pace of technological change in our day-to-day lives, the demand for Kids Help Phone’s phone services has declined, while the demand for Live Chat support has increased. In this presentation, Kids Help Phone will share their continued approach to evolve the communications technologies they use to meet young people where they are at; and to transform their presence using relevant technology to meet the rising capacity of youth reaching out to connect.
Alisa Simon Vice President, Counselling Services & Programs, Kids Help Phone
As the Vice-President of Counselling Services and Programs at Kids Help Phone, Alisa Simon heads the organization’s evaluation and Knowledge Mobilization work and is also responsible for its counselling organization-wide, with more than 90 professional counselling staff working under her direction across three counselling centres serving young people across Canada. Alisa’s portfolio also includes the development and management of Kids Help Phone’s many clinical offerings for young people, including technical innovations such as Kids Help Phone’s Live Chat service, the Always There app, and the organization’s community resource database of 30,000 local programs and services nationwide serving young people. Alisa often speaks on behalf of Kids Help Phone at national and international conferences and represents Kids Help Phone with organizations such as Child Helpline International and the National Alliance for Children and Youth, where she currently serves on the board of directors.View Online
