The optimal solution to a tough problem can be hard to find. That’s a main advantage of open innovation challenges — they bring a larger set of creative minds to bear, yielding more and better answers. This ability has been used to great effect in many of the challenges Canada Health Infoway has hosted as part of the ImagineNation series.
However, as you’ll see from the graphic below, innovation challenges have other strengths, too. In addition to bringing more minds to important problems, the ImagineNation challenges have raised the profile — and rewarded — innovators and trailblazers for delivering digital health to Canadians. By requiring participants to adhere to specific criteria in order to participate, we’ve been able to shape the market by encouraging high-quality digital solutions. And by encouraging participation from everywhere within Canada, we’ve been able to identify and foster a community of innovators.
The image below sets out five reasons to host an open innovation challenge. So, what do you have to lose? Host your own open innovation challenge — the possibilities are endless!
This blog series was produced to help celebrate ImagineNation Challenges 5th Anniversary. This is the second of seven blogs. To view other blogs in this series, click here.
