It’s always wonderful to see a friend receive well-deserved recognition so we are delighted to celebrate Dr. Kathryn Hannah’s appointment as a Member (C.M.) of the Order of Canada on July 1, 2015. The honour was bestowed upon her for her efforts to advance the use of health care technology in Canada. It reflects Kathryn’s deep contributions to health informatics in Canada and elsewhere.
Kathryn’s passion and leadership are a driving force in the adoption and use of digital health within the nursing community. We are pleased that her many accomplishments have been recognized with this national honour. The Order of Canada recognizes outstanding achievement, dedication to the community, and service to the nation. Since it was established in 1967, more than 6000 people from all parts of the country have been invested into the Order.
As a long-standing friend and contributor, Kathryn has been involved with Infoway’s efforts to advance health with innovative digital solutions since shortly after the organization’s inception. For example, she participated in the Standards Collaborative Steering Committee, acted as the executive leader for the Canadian Health Outcomes for Better Information and Care (C-HOBIC) investment project executed in partnership with the Canadian Nurses Association and several jurisdictions, and currently sits on the Pan-Canadian Nursing Reference Group.
