Holly Witteman

PhD, Associate Professor in the Department of Family & Emergency Medicine, Université Laval, Quebec City

With an interdisciplinary background in human factors engineering and social sciences, Holly’s research is about human-centred digital health, including a focus on how best to adapt technology to people rather than expecting people to adapt to technology. She specializes in human-computer interaction in health education, risk communication and decision making, including design methods to support inclusive user- and patient-centredness.

Her work as Principal Investigator has been funded by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS), the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI, United States), the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A teacher.

What motivates you to do what you do?
I want everyone to be well-equipped to make evidence-informed health-related decisions that reflect and align with what matters to them and their families.

What are you looking forward to most about the Partnership Conference?
Meeting new people who share an interest in human-centred digital health.

What emoji do you use most often?
ic emoji blue heart (a blue heart because that’s an emoji often used in discussions among people living with diabetes. I’ve lived with type 1 diabetes since I was a young child.)
