PrescribeIT Demonstrates Continued Momentum in Canada

Six provinces, 20 community pharmacy companies onboard with PrescribeITTM

(Toronto) – PrescribeITTM, Canada’s national e-prescribing service, is continuing to demonstrate momentum with the addition of even more community pharmacy companies in the six provinces with whom PrescribeITTM has reached agreements (Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland and Labrador)  since its recent announcement at the end of August.

PrescribeITTM is now working with 20 community pharmacy companies, with local, regional and national reach, representing more than 3,300 pharmacies in the six provinces. In addition to the support from community pharmacists, more than 900 physicians, on behalf of their 718,000 patients, have expressed interest in the service.

In August 2017, PrescribeITTM went live in Huntsville, Ontario with Remedy’sRx Muskoka Medical Centre Pharmacy and two doctors with the Algonquin Family Health Team.  This was quickly followed by two pharmacy locations and two doctors in Kingston, Ontario (Frontenac Medical Clinic & Associates and Frontenac Medical Pharmacy/Lovell Drugs).  Another site will be launching soon in the Niagara Region of Ontario.

“The continued roll-out and strong response from prescribers and pharmacists and the obvious patient safety benefits of the service, reinforce the need, and desire for a national e-prescribing service – and that’s what we’re doing with PrescribeITTM,” said Michael Green, President and CEO, Canada Health Infoway. “With the most recent launches, and more happening soon, I am excited to see how PrescribeITTM is changing the face of health care in Canada.”
